College has an institutional membership with Recording for the
Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D) for students who do not have their own membership.
Book orders may require 6 weeks or more.
As soon as you register for classes:
- Obtain book information from Alternate Media
Specialist,
Tania McKeown
- Provide the following book information
- title
- author
- edition no.
- publication date
- ISBN no.
- Fill out and submit an Alternate Media Request Form.
- You may check for availability through the
RFB&D Catalog Search and obtain the shelf number or ask that the Alternate
Media Specialist do so for you.
- When your CD(s) arrives, they may be picked up at the
front desk in the
DSS
Office (room 840).
- If the book is not available from RFB&D, you will be
advised of additional options, including:
- providing print texts to RFB&D for recording
- contacting your Department of Rehabilitation
counselor, if you are a client, to request funds to hire a reader to tape
the book.
- contacting Department of Rehabilitation, if you are
blind, to apply for “non-client reader funds” to hire a reader
- scanning your textbook
RFB&D tapes/CDs are loaned for one semester only.
RFB&D tapes/CDs must be returned by the last day of
final exams unless other arrangements have been made with the Alternate Media
Specialist.
